Toy box

Grandpa & Grandma Erickson bought Isaac this toy box for his birthday. Isaac LOVES it! He stands in front of it for hours pulling out the toy he wants to play with. I love it because it is big enough to keep all of his toys and our house doesn't look so messy! Here are a few pictures of Isaac playing:

Here's an update on Isaac's latest accomplishments: he is getting closer to walking. He took three steps today. I think he will take off running soon! He loves to wave bye bye and gets very excited to see his pictures over the kitchen table at meal times. He loves to point at each of them.

We have also switched him to whole milk and he's not allergic! We are so relieved and glad that the allergic reaction before was to something in the formula. It is so nice not to buy formula anymore! He's eating more and more table food and LOVES hotdogs! He also loves carbs! Potatoes, bread, and cheerios are his favorite. I have a tough time getting him to eat fruits and vegetables some times.

Isaac popped his 5th tooth through a little over a week ago. We'll see if any others come anytime soon. He might be the slowest teether in history!

Playing in the dirt

This past weekend Isaac got to play in the dirt for the first time. We finished up planting our landscaping. Isaac was so fascinated by the dirt and so excited to pick it up in his hands. We did manage to keep him from eating it!

I also planted my garden this weekend. We didn't do one last year because things were a little hectic with a new baby but I missed it so we made sure to get one going this year. We put it in a new spot however and this spot is not always sunny so we'll see how it grows. I have a couple cherry tomotoes, some romaine lettuce (a first for me...), a couple cucumbers, and a couple red and green pepper plants. Hopefully by midsummer we will have lots of salad!

It's been very warm the last two days which means Isaac can play outside a little more. I will have to run to Walmart and get the baby sunscreen before he's outside too much!

Mother's Day Weekend

I thought I'd share what Zach, Isaac, and I did for Mother's Day. Friday night we decided to get Isaac's pictures taken so Isaac and I picked up Zach from work and headed to Portrait Innovations. Isaac didn't nap in the afternoon so we were a little worried that pictures wouldn't go well. However, we were wrong!

After pictures we went to Barnes and Noble bookstore and Zach bought me a book I've been wanting to read. Actually, I bought it with a gift card but it was his idea to get it! After shopping we went and ate at Red Robin. If you've never been to Red Robin...you are missing out! They have the best burgers ever! Zach had a burger with a fried egg on top and you would think that sounds terrible but it was really good. I had a BBQ burger and the BBQ sauce was some of the best I've had. After supper we came home and put Isaac to bed. He was pretty tired but didn't fall asleep until 10!

Saturday we planted flowers in our flower bed. We can say that we are almost completely finished with our landscaping! We just need to plant the bed in front of our sidewalk and plant our garden in the back! Here are a few pictures of the planted landscaping:

On Sunday we mainly stuck around the house. We attended Isaac's friend, Hadley's, 1st birthday party. Isaac loved hanging out with all his little friends and really enjoyed the cake!

1 year pictures!

We got Isaac's 1 year photos done last Friday. This experience was definitely better than the previous one! Isaac did really well during the family photo and then got a little scared when we put him by himself but we found a basketball for him to hold and that was great fun for him. Here are some of our favorites:

Day of FREEDOM!!!!

The day has finally arrived! Zach is taking his test and in a few short hours, this chapter of our lives will be over! He called this morning and said the morning part was fairly easy and he was looking forward to getting the afternoon part done. I am so excited...I could cry!

I wanted to put a picture of our beautiful magnolia tree on our blog since it only blooms for a few days. The blooms are already falling to the ground so it won't be around much longer.

Isaac had his 1 year appointment on Monday. He's officially 23 pounds, 12 ounces...with his clothes off. We got some antibiotics for his cold and he is doing much better the last 2 days. It was really rough over the weekend and for the first few days of the week. On Wednesday I sucked more snot out of his nose than I thought was even possible. Since that he has been able to breathe and has been sleeping better. Last night he slept 12 hours! He has never done that! I was happy because Zach stayed in Ames last night and I was on my own with Isaac.

Well, the garbage truck just went by and woke up Isaac so I'd better go get him! I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful day!

Birthday Fun!!

Isaac is 1 today! We had a really great time with my family and our friends and missed having Zach's family down here to celebrate. Zach's mom had unexpected surgery on Thursday and is recovering in the hospital. We will celebrate next weekend though!
Here are a few pictures of the day for Grandpa & Grandma Erickson:

Zach and I teamed up to decorate Isaac's cake! We are pretty proud of the end result!

Isaac got some blocks and some trucks and really had a good time opening his presents. He didn't understand why he couldn't immediately play with the toy he just opened though. It was hard to keep him unwrapping presents!

Isaac loved his cake...especially the frosting. If you look closely you will see his fingerprints by Mickey's shoes!

Isaac loved mushing his cake between his fingers!

Whoops, a little behind his ear! Good thing it's bath night!

My baby is one! Zach and I are both exhausted after a long day of preparing and celebrating. It seems we were just as exhausted last year! Probably more last year!

walking...with help!

Isaac has started to take more steps and walk behind his little car. It won't be long and he will take off and run...although he knows he is much faster at crawling and prefers it at this time! I got a little video of him walking behind his car today!

Softball season will start at the end of the month. We had a practice last night and Zach let me go and he stayed home with Isaac. I am SORE today!! Zach laughed at me but I will return the favor in a few weeks when he plays for the first time!
