Four Generations!

Last weekend we traveled up to Austin, Minnesota to see Zach's family. Isaac did pretty well but last week was a hard adjustment back to the schedule we were previously on. We are still not 100% adjusted but things are going better. The picture above is our 4 generation picture. It's not often that you get one of those!

Isaac is getting better at playing by himself for longer periods of time. I am enjoying that because I can accomplish a few things each day. He is now sleeping about 4 to 4 1/2 hours during the first part of the night. I am really loving that because I get at least 3 hours of uninterupted sleep! Sometimes that is all I get though. People tell me it will get better and I am holding on to that hope. :)

I am supposed to go back to work next week but I am looking at possibly extending my leave by a couple of weeks. If I can't then hopefully I can take Isaac with me and work a few less hours for a few weeks. I can't believe my baby boy is almost 6 weeks old! I go back to the doctor next Monday so we'll see if she releases me to do more activity. I may have to wait another 2 weeks.

Below are some pictures of Isaac playing in his activity gym and sitting in his bouncey seat. He doesn't like the vibrator on the seat but is content to sit and rock himself.

He loves this elephant!

The bird on the far left chirps and sounds just like the bird outside his window at 5 a.m.!

My big boy! I haven't had him weighed lately but I think he's probably a little over 10 pounds!

Our big boy!

Sorry it's been a while...adjusting to motherhood has been more difficult and time consuming than I imagined! Last week was my first week by myself. Zach went back to work and the grandmas went home. :( It was rough but Isaac and I managed to survive. This week has been better.

Isaac is a spitter/puker. Everytime I feed him, he manages to spit up a good portion of it. The volume of spit up was much more last week and he really had me worried. However, when I took him to the doctor on Monday he weighed 9 pounds, 4 ounces so the doctor is not concerned. My baby is over 9 pounds in 3 weeks! Isaac has gained more than 2 pounds since we arrived home from the hospital. That is incredible! He will soon be out of newborn diapers and has already outgrown a few of his onesies.

I am finding that my only job is to care for Isaac. I am lucky to get lunch and really lucky if I get a shower during the day. Isaac has his nights and days turned around to an extent. This week we are working on keeping him awake during the day so he will sleep better at night. Currently he eats about every 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours so I get about 2 hours of sleep at a time. Zach helps out when he can. I try not to wake him in the middle of the night because he needs his rest for work.

The pictures below are from Isaac's first weeks and the last ones are from today. He has really grown and has changed a lot in the short time we have had him home. We hope to see everyone soon!

Baby Isaac is Here!!

Our baby boy is now here. His name is Isaac Leif Erickson. He was born on April 18, 2008 at 1:59 pm. He was 7 lbs 15 oz and 20.5" long. He was born as a c-section because he was breach. We came home on Monday evening from the hospital and now have about a day at home with him. He is such a blessing. Regina is doing well in her recovery but it will be slow going for her for a while. Below are pictures that we took at the hospital of Isaac and from the day we came home. Enjoy!!
One of the first photos....

Eyes open to see the new world.

How Isaac sleeps. Regina says it is the way Zach sleeps.

Time to go home.

Final Picture!

We found out Tuesday that manually turning the baby is not an option since my placenta is in the front and there's a risk it will detach during the turn. So we are scheduled to have a c-section tomorrow at 1:30. This will officially be our last time blogging about our pregnancy. The next blog you read will have our beautiful baby in it! We are excited to find out if we have a boy or a girl!

I'm still a little nervous but Zach will be by my side and I know that this is God's plan for us. We both want a safe and healthy delivery of this little one and I am willing to do anything in order to have that happen. I am also willing to do anything in order to no longer be pregnant! I love feeling this baby move inside of me but I would like to start sleeping in my bed and to be able to walk normally again. So I am sad, but ready to share this baby with the world!

Please pray for us tomorrow! Zach is feeling a little under the weather and could use God's healing hand before he walks in the operating room tomorrow. I am still afraid of needles and a little weary of the needle in the back. Also, once the baby is born, I want Zach to go to the nursery with him/her so I will be by myself while the doctors are stitching me back together.

Below are pictures of our nursery which we officially put finishing touches on tonight. Our little one has a room of it's own! Also below is my final picture being pregnant. Zach says I'm huge and I definitely feel huge! We look forward to introducing our little one in a few days!

38 weeks!

We went to the doctor on Tuesday and she couldn't confirm that baby's head was down so we had to have another ultrasound. Unfortunately, we now know that baby is breech and will have to make a decision this week on whether to try to manually turn baby or if we will just schedule a c-section. I'm not sure how I feel about this, I'm a little scared because if we have the c-section I will have to have an epidural and I'm afraid of needles. Plus it's major surgery! I'm disappointed because I really wanted to try to have a vaginal birth. But over all, I want our baby to be healthy and to arrive safely. The ultrasound did show baby is healthy, weighing approximately 7 pounds, 8 ounces. That's bigger than Zach or I expected! Baby also has some hair, is practicing breathing on its own, and has shown us it can stick it's tongue out! We have uploaded the picture of baby sticking out the tongue! It's a little hard to see but baby's head is clear to the right. Its head is surrounded by arms, feet, and the umbillical cord.

I also now know why I am so uncomfortable and why my ribs hurt all the time. Baby's hands and feet are right on my rib cage and baby's head is also very close to my ribs. At least I know there is an end in sight and we will have this beautiful baby in our arms very soon. We'll keep you updated on what we find out this week.

Below is my week 38 picture, possibly my last! I look forward to uploading baby pictures very soon!

Almost there!

We will be 36 weeks tomorrow, which means baby will be here in less than a month! I am ready to be done, however I want the baby to be healthy so I will wait until the end. If baby isn't here by the 26th, I may get a little grouchy! I am very uncomfortable and I can no longer sleep in our bed. I've been sleeping in the recliner for the past week. Zach volunteers to sleep on the couch with me but there's no sense in both of us being uncomfortable. I feel like my stomach has no more room to stretch and yet every picture we take, I continue to look bigger. I know, it's a good thing. Next week we start doing weekly appointments at the doctor.
We've been having numerous baby showers lately. Tomorrow my family is coming to my house for a baby shower. It's great to receive presents and it definitely helps us get ready but the challenge is finding a place to store everything! Who knew how much organization is required to get ready for a baby!

Zach took some time this past weekend to trim our trees and remove the broken branches from an ice storm this past winter. There's a picture below of him in the tree. I am happy to say that he managed to stay healthy and in one piece while trimming. He's going to take the brush to the dump tomorrow.

Hopefully we will be able to blog one more time, at least, before the baby comes but if not we will post baby pictures as soon as we can after the baby is born. Below is a picture at almost 36 weeks.

Week 33 Update

It's been awhile again but we have been very busy! We started taking our child birthing classes in February so our Monday nights are shot! We really enjoy our instructor though and I think this class will prepare us enough to have this baby. We are 33 weeks and I'm quite large (as you can see in the picture) and yet I think I will still be getting larger! I have been pretty uncomfortable lately and sleeping has been a challenge but baby is moving and doing well. Our doctor gave me some stretches to do each day and I have felt some improvement. We've started going to the doctor every 2 weeks and now officially have all of our appointments scheduled. I am only able to travel long distances for a few more weeks so if you don't see us before the end of March and you live more than an hour away, you won't see us until after baby comes.
We finally have our crib and dresser! It is not the one that was back ordered though. We decided to look around after waiting for so long and found a set that actually fits us better. This set is a little smaller and doesn't overtake the room like the other one would have. I love being able to store baby's stuff in the dresser!

Zach and my dad put the crib and dresser together one Friday night. Zach also put together our travel system. It was fun to watch him read the directions and put together the crib. It was even more fun to watch him practicing with the stroller. He is going to be a wonderful father! The pictures beside are of the process and then the final product.
We've been looking at baby names recently. Zach has read through the baby book and put together a list of 100 names for a boy and 100 names for a girl. After reading all of them to me, we have narrowed it down to approximately 45-50 name of each. We will probably narrow the list to only the names we both had. which will narrow the list to 20 each. With only 7 weeks left, we had better keep working!

March is going to be busy with baby classes and baby showers! In case you are wondering we are registered at Babies 'R Us and Target. We hope to see all of you soon and we look forward to introducing our little one to you!
